Sheet pile walls are also used to retain soil and/or water in deep excavations. These walls are constructed by driving prefabricated sections into the ground. Soil conditions may allow for the sections to be vibrated into ground instead of they being hammer driven. The full wall is formed by connecting the adjacent sections at the interlocking joints. To enhance water seepage control through the wall, a sealing system can be applied at the interlocks.
As other shoring wall systems, sheet pile walls can be reinforced with anchors or other forms of internal bracing to provide additional lateral support.
