Micropiles or minipiles are small diameter cast in-situ bored piles constructed using high-strength steel casing and/or steel bar, and cement grout. Typically, micropiles are used to transmit compressive and tensile forces into the soil through skin friction. They are formed by drilling a borehole, placing steel reinforcement and then grouting the hole.
Micropiles are an ideal choice for underpinning the existing structure and for sites with limited access such as low headroom area.
