Berliner walls and contiguous walls are commonly used retaining wall systems, particularly in excavation support scenarios where water presence is not a major challenge and it can be managed properly with drainage system.
These walls consist of steel beams or bored cast-in-situ piles retained by additional lateral support (if needed) to effectively stabilize the excavation and minimize displacement. In these walls, the surrounded piles are drilled at regular intervals along the perimeter of excavation and afterwards ground anchors or bracing system are installed (as an additional lateral support) as the excavation continues.
